LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - For the second consecutive week Siena Soccer freshman goalkeeper Josh Weiss has been named the Corvias ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. The Hicksville, N.Y. native shares the award with St. John's goalkeeper Jordan Stagmiller.

Weiss posted a 2-1 record with a 0.94 goals against average, an .850 save percentage and 17 saves in three matches last week for the Saints. On Monday, he was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in a row.

He made three saves in last Tuesday's 5-1 win over Sacred Heart and continued to excel over the weekend in the Saints' matches on the West Coast in the Henson/Zaher Nike Classic against Oregon State and Portland which were both receiving Top-25 votes.

On Friday, he made a pair of saves in the Saints' narrow 1-0 loss at the Beavers. Sunday he stopped a season-high 12 shots including three in extra time as the Saints beat Portland 2-1 in double overtime. For his efforts over the weekend, Weiss was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Weiss is now 5-1 on the season with a 0.65 goals against average, .871 save percentage, 27 saves and two shutouts.

Off to the best start in program history, Siena is also receiving votes in the latest NSCAA Top-25 Poll for the second straight week. The Saints doubled their vote total to 24 this week and have moved up two spots in the rankings to 32nd overall. Siena is also ranked third in the Northeast in the regional rankings, trailing only nationally ranked squads American and Navy.

Weiss and the Saints continue their season long six-match road trip this weekend at the CU Inaria Classic. Siena is at Cornell Friday (7 p.m.) and at Colgate Sunday (2 p.m.).
