Jan. 14, 2015 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Soccer freshman striker Alexander Tejera has added yet another honor to commemorate his impressive rookie season. The Ossining, N.Y. native has been named a College Soccer News Third Team All-Freshman selection.
One of just 33 Division I freshmen honored by College Soccer News, Tejera is one of two MAAC honorees joining Fairfield's Angus Hastings who was also named a Third Team honoree.
Previously, Tejera was named an NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Northeast Region Third Team, MAAC Second Team and MAAC All-Rookie Team selection.
Tejera ranked tied for fifth in the MAAC in game-winning goals (three), tied for sixth in goals (six) and tied for eighth in scoring (15) this fall. A two-time MAAC and ECAC Rookie of the Week, Tejera led the Saints in scoring, goals and game-winning goals en route to being the MAAC's only unanimous selection to the All-Rookie Team.
Tejera and the Saints recently concluded a successful 2014 season in which the team posted a 10-8-2 overall record and secured the No. 5 seed in the MAAC Championships with a 5-3-2 conference mark. The Saints' 10 victories tied for the second most wins in program history and the squad posted an undefeated home mark at Siena Turf Field (6-0-2) for the first time ever.
