Feb. 27, 2015 Stony Brook Final Stats | UNF Final Stats
The Siena Softball team lost twice Friday, defeated by Stony Brook 2-0 and North Florida 6-2. The Saints combined for six errors in the two contests, which ultimately made a big difference in both games.
Despite a complete game from Amanda Gatt giving up only two runs, Siena was unable to manufacture any offense from their five hits against Stony Brook in the first game. The pivotal moment of the game occurred in the second inning when after stealing second base Bria Green advanced to third on an error by Sammy Smaldone. That allowed Chelsea Evans to sacrifice bunt home Green for the Seawolves first run of the game, the only run they'd need in the contest.
Amanda Gatt (0-2) pitched six innings in the loss, giving up only three hits and two runs. The Saints out hit Stony Brook 5-3, but left five runners on base and struck out five times in the loss.
In the second game the Saints out hit host North Florida 11-6, but had five errors, including three in the Osprey's four run third inning. The Saints scored their two runs of the game in the fifth, when an error on a Chelsea Stout hit, allowed Paige Hess and Alyssa Lancaster to score.
Lancaster went 2-4 with one run against UNF, while outfielder Lauren Milligan went a perfect 3-3. Danielle Cacciola (0-3) pitched three innings in the loss, giving up five runs (0 earned) and four hits. Lauren Butts pitched the remaining four innings and gave up one run on two hits with six strikeouts.
The Saints return to action with a double dip tomorrow taking on Kansas at 10 a.m. and South Dakota at 12:15 p.m.
