Siena Softball lost both games of Thursday's doubleheader versus Cornell losing 9-0 in five innings and 7-1. The Saints lost game two despite out hitting the Big Red 8-5 in game two.
Siena could not overcome the eight runs they gave up in the first inning in game one, managing only two hits in the game. Stephanie Viggiano and Melanie Kalesse recorded those hits as Cornell pitcher Maddie Orcutt pitched a complete game for the win.
In game two Siena was able to put 11 runners on base, but only were able to bring one across in the loss. Paige Lloyd led all Siena hitters going 2-3, and scoring the Saint's lone run of the game in the fifth on a wild pitch. She did not record a hit in game one however, ending her hitting streak at 10 games.
The Saints will look to reboot their offense Saturday with a MAAC doubleheader against Rider beginning at 12 p.m. in Loudonville.
