Oct. 19, 2016 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Swimming will host the Holy Cross Crusaders tonight at 7pm in their first home meet of the season. The Saints will host four meets this season at the Siena Swim Center.
Last season, the Crusaders defeated Siena 198-102., but the Saints were victorious in 2014 (171-122).
Siena began their season Saturday, Oct. 8th at Assumption. The Greyhounds defeated the Saints 163-94. Siena captured wins in four of the 16 events.
Freshman Rachel Brown won the 200 freestyle (2:00.65) in her collegiate swimming debut. Sophomore Elizabeth Fournier captured the top spot in the 100 butterfly (1:02.31).The 200IM was won by junior Fiona Dretzka (2:22.21).
The Saints competed in the Catholic Invite last weekend, finishing sixth. Tonight's opponent, Holy Cross, finished fifth in the meet, just ahead of Siena.
Brown added sixth, eighth, and 12th place finishes for the Saints at the Catholic Invite, while junior Erica Askew finished seventh and ninth in the 200 and 100 breaststroke events. The Saints finished sixth in the 400 freestyle relay to close out the event.
The Saints will compete in nine more meets before the MAAC Championships in February, including four in Loudonville. After Holy Cross, Siena will face Vermont (Oct.29), Merrimack (Nov.12), and LIU Post (Jan. 14) at the Siena Swim Center this season.
