Brian Parker scored 24 points and Khallid Hart added 17, including a game-tying three-pointer with 2:32 left that helped Marist snap its 11-game losing streak with a 79-73 win over rival Siena Sunday in Poughkeepsie. Nico Clareth scored a career-high 26 points in the loss for the Saints.

"The best players don't always win; it's the players who play the best," Siena coach Jimmy Patsos said. "They played harder and better than we did today, and that's the truth."

Clareth's three-pointer gave Siena a 66-63 lead with 3:34 left, but Marist tied the game on Hart's triple, and took the lead for good, 73-70, on Kristinn Palsson's three from the right wing with 1:28 left.

Clareth tracked down a loose ball, and got off a contested three that would have tied the game on Siena's next trip, but it came up short. Isaiah Lamb was fouled on the rebound, and sunk two free throws to make it 75-70 with 31 seconds left.

The exciting finish capped off a frantic second half that saw both teams shoot well over 50% from the field. Siena made 58% of its second half field goals, including 5-9 three-pointers. Marist shot 54% and knocked down 6-11 threes.

Marist led 31-30 at halftime after both teams shot 40% and struggled offensively. Siena defeated the Red Foxes 77-66 in Albany nine days ago, and led by double digits most of the way.

Clareth and Parker combined for 50 points, showing why they're among the leading candidates for the MAAC Rookie of the Year award. Clareth has scored 13 points or more in 11 straight games, but he doubled that effort Sunday, besting the career-high 24 he set at Niagara in the Saints' last road game.

Brett Bisping and Javion Ogunyemi each scored 16 points for the Saints. Lamb rounded out Marist's double figure scorers with 10 points. Siena out-rebounded Marist 35-23, marking the 11th time this season they've had a double-digit advantage on the glass.

Siena will try to regroup Thursday when it hosts Canisius at Times Union Center.
