Siena softball salvaged a split with Army Wednesday after the Saints took the first game of the day 7-6 but then fell in the nightcap by a final of 5-0. The Saints and Black Knights scored three runs apiece in their respective halves of the second inning. Melanie Kalesse got it started in the frame with a double to right center. With Alyssa Lancaster already on base from a walk, Smaldone came to the plate with two on and hit a three run blast to give Siena the lead until Army score their three runs to cut the Siena lead to two.
Army would begin to build their first lead of the afternoon in the fourth when three more runs came across for the Black Knights. They lead would extend to 6-5.

Lauren Butts started the game in the circle while Antonia Edwards came in to relieve Butts after three and a third innings. The senior pitched the final three and two thirds innings to record her second win on the season.
In the second game of the afternoon, four different Saints tallied hits as Siena fell by a final of 5-0. Brooke Taylor, Alyssa Lancaster, Jessika Jaime and DeFalco each recorded hits. Army scored in each of the last four innings to shut out Siena, limiting the visiting team to just four hits.
