Jan. 25, 2017 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.- The Siena Swimming and Diving program was recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as a Scholar All-America team for the fall 2016 semester. The CSCAA recognizes teams with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or higher each semester. Siena possesses an impressive cumulative team GPA of 3.56 following the fall semester.
The Saints have earned Scholar All-America honors in eleven straight semesters, dating back to the fall of 2011. The recognition is announced twice each year following the spring and fall semesters.
This past semester, fall 2016, a record 638 teams at a total of 394 schools were recognized as Scholar All-American teams. Altogether, 73-percent of CSCAA member schools received the honor, including 91-percent of women's Division I institutions. Fellow MAAC member Iona led the nation in Division I women's swimming team GPAs with a 3.69.
The Saints will return to the pool in a few weeks as they begin the MAAC Championships on Feb. 8 in Buffalo, New York. The Saints finished fifth in the championships last season.
