Game One: Towson 2, Siena 1
Brooke Miko's fifth inning sacrifice fly proved to be the difference as Towson (22-8) fended off Siena (5-13) in the first game of the doubleheader. The Saints tallied nine hits but stranded 10 runners in the narrow one-run setback.
Madison Wilson staked the Tigers to a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the home half of the third. However, Siena knotted the score at 1-1 in the fifth on an RBI double by Cossack to plate freshman Isabelle DeChiaro. Cossack went a perfect 3-3 in the contest with a pair of doubles and a walk.
But Towson loaded the bases in the home half of the inning, setting up Miko's game-winning RBI. The Tigers prevailed despite managing just three total hits off Saints' hurlers Brooke Hughes and Maddie McMahon.
Game Two: Towson 8, Siena 0 (6)
Towson scored four times during the decisive sixth inning to walk off and improve to a perfect 10-0 at home. Cossack reached base safely twice more to cap off an impressive four-game Spring Break trip for Siena in which she finished 7-11 with four runs scored, a pair of home runs, and five RBI.
Kendyl Scott went a perfect 3-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI to pace a 10-hit Tiger attack. Meanwhile, Julia Smith-Harrington tossed five shutout innings in the circle to earn the win.
Towson harbored a 3-0 lead into the latter innings, but tacked on an insurance run in the fifth before ending the game prematurely in the sixth. Scott opened the scoring with a home run, and Nicole Stockinger ended the game with an RBI single.
The Saints make their 2018 Capital Region debut Saturday when they host Niagara for both their home and MAAC opener. Doubleheader action begins at noon.
