LOUDONVILLE, NY -- ACC foe Syracuse swept Siena Softball in non-conference doubleheader action at Siena Field. The Orange took the opener 6-3 and the nightcap 7-0.

Game One: Syracuse 6, Siena 3
Syracuse (20-17) scored three runs in the first inning and added three more insurance tallies late to double up Siena (9-17) in the opener. Isabelle DeChiaro led the Saints with both a pair of hits and RBI, while Madysen Cossack scored twice.

The Orange worked five first-inning walks to commence the scoring, while also committing a pair of outs on the bases due to interference in an odd frame. Toni Martin keyed the inning with a two-run single.

Siena got two runs back in the home half of the opening inning on a ringing, two-run double to left center off the bat of DeChiaro to plate both Lauren Sabihon and Cossack.

Gabby Teran added a pair of insurance runs for Syracuse with a two-run homerun down the left field line to extend the lead to 5-2 in the fifth. The Saints chipped away with an infield RBI single from Paige Hess in the bottom half of the inning, but the Orange added another insurance run in the sixth to provide the final margin.

Game Two: Syracuse 7, Siena 0
Syracuse blew open what had been a pitcher's duel early with a six-run sixth inning to complete the sweep and improve to a perfect 12-0 in the all-time series.

ACC standout Alexa Romero tossed a one-hitter over six innings for the Orange, while walking two and striking out nine to earn the win in the circle. Meanwhile, Brooke Hughes matched her almost pitch for pitch over the first five innings in surrendering just three hits and a run.

But the Orange batted around in the sixth, sending 10 hitters to the plate while recording six hits. Rachel Burkhardt crushed a two-run homer and pinch hitter Andrea Bombace added a two-run double to highlight the scoring.

DeChiaro recorded the lone Siena hit with a clean single to center with two outs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Saints return to action Saturday for a conference doubleheader against Canisius beginning at noon in Buffalo.
