Saints Step Up At Mark Young Invite

Siena Men's and Women's Track team stepped up at the Mark Young Invite competing in new events. The women's 4x400m relay team took third in the event and were just off the school record.

"Today we had a lot of athletes running events outside of their primary event focus and I was really pleased to see so many of our athletes tackle some new events with enthusiasm and lots of success," said head coach John Kenworthy. "It's going to help them build their abilities and performances in their primary events later in the season!"

The women's squad of Holly Bednarek, Morgan Serkes, Jaimie Polanco and Abbi Wright we're just short of the school record with a time of 4:18.85 in the 4x400m relay. The team came in third in the event.

The women grabbed three top-five finishes in the 5000m race. Monica Strain finished second with her 18:20.13 finish. Carissa Kahn set a personal record 18:49.45 time which was good for fourth place, while Dominica Bleichert came in fifth with a time of 18:51.11.

Bednarek, who was competing in the 800m for the first time, took fifth place overall with her 2:22.31 time. Polanco finished seventh with a 2:23.42 mark.

Two more top-10 finishes on the women's side came in the 1500m when Abbi Wright took fifth with a 4:54.16 time. Serkes took 10th place with a 5:03.03 mark, while Anya Schmitt came through at 5:05.11.

Meghan McDonough set a personal record 18:53.58 time in the 5000m. Both Sydney Johnson and Mary McNally also competed in the race and finished in respective times of 18:55.85 and 19:09.99.

On the men's side, Jack O'Hara got things started off for the Saints with his third place personal record in the 1500m. He finished in 4:04.15. He was followed by Jacob Greski and Daniel Medici who finished in respective times of 4:09.21 and 4:14.41.

Christopher Estremera took part in the 800m for the first time and came out with a 2:01.90 mark. Grant Norton finished in 2:04.28 while Ittai Rosales ran the race for a 2:06.05 time.

Andrew Canavan picked up a fourth-place finish with his 15:54.77 time in the 5000m. He was followed by fellow Saints O'Hara (16:03.45) and Jason Linendoll (16:06.89) who took fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Aidan Canavan ran in the 5000m with a time of 16:22.15. Cole DiGiacomo ran in the event for the first time and finish in 17:16.06, while Peter Wagner finished in 17:23.33.

The men's 4x400m relay team of Greski, Michael Carroll, Estremera and Medici finished in 3:40.87.

The Saints are set to travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania for the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday, April 14.
