Siena became the fifth team to clinch a MAAC Tournament berth by virtue of their doubleheader sweep of Saint Peter's (1-42, 1-22) yesterday. The Saints posted a pair of 11-run victories, cruising to a 13-2 triumph in the opener and an 11-0 shutout in seven innings in the nightcap.
Siena enters its regular season finale currently tied for fourth with Marist in the MAAC Standings. The Saints hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Red Foxes as a result of their series win earlier this season. Siena can still mathematically be seeded anywhere from 1-6, but will need to complete the series sweep today and also get help to secure a top-two seed and a coveted First Round bye for the MAAC Tournament which commences Wednesday in Staten Island.
Following yesterday's dominating doubleheader sweep, the Saints now lead the all-time series with Saint Peter's 42-11, including wins in 12 of the past 14 matchups.
