LOUDONVILLE, NY – For the second straight season, Siena Baseball redshirt sophomore catcher
Aidan Paradine has been named to the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List. The award is presented annually by the Wichita Sports Commission to the nation's most outstanding catcher.
Â
Paradine was one of just 50 Division I catchers nationally to be named to the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List, which was renamed after the former Florida State catcher and 12-year Major League Baseball veteran in 2019. Originally created in 2000, the award was formerly called the Johnny Bench Award.
Â
Paradine is just the third Siena backstop to be named to the National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List – and only the second to earn distinction twice – joining Phil Madonna (2017, 2018) and Bryce Mordecki (2021).
Â
Paradine has appeared in all 24 games so far this season, making 23 starts. The Bayonne, New Jersey native is currently hitting .286, while leading the Saints in runs scored (16), hits (26), home runs (three), RBI (16), and total bases (39).
Â
Paradine and the Saints return to action when they open a three-game series against Mount St. Mary's Thursday at 3 p.m. at Connors Park.
