Baseball Looks to Complete Sweep of Niagara Monday Morning

Saints in Search of Key MAAC Victory

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Baseball looks to put the finishing touches on what would be a vital sweep when the Saints host Niagara in the series finale at 10 a.m. at Connors Park. Orginally scheduled to be completed Sunday, the game was pushed back to Monday due to inclement weather. Siena swept Saturday's series-opening doubleheader by scores of 17-14 and 2-1.

Joe Mixie has the call of the action online at SienaAllAccess.com, which can be watched via laptops, desktops, and tablets, as well as on iOS (Apple) devices including those that support Adobe Flash 10.1 or greater (Android devices). Special features to the Siena All-Access platform include live stats, and pertinent related twitter and ticker updates. Additionally, all games are archived upon their conclusion and can viewed at any time thereafter through the on-demand feature.

Siena (17-29, 11-9) has won six straight conference contests to ascend to sixth place in the MAAC Standings. The top-six teams qualify for the MAAC Tournament to be held in two weeks in Staten Island. The Saints hold a one-game lead over Monmouth with four conference games remaining for both teams, and are also now just a game and a half within fifth place Marist whom Siena closes regular season action at this coming weekend in Poughkeepsie.

Siena concludes its home slate this morning which was capped by the Saints playing 14 of their last 16 games at Connors Park, where Siena so far has posted a 9-4 mark during the stretch. The Saints captured Saturday's crucial doubleheader in polar opposite fashion, registering the program's highest scoring output in three years a wild series opener before prevailing in a pitchers duel in extra innings in the nightcap.

Freshman Ryan McGee continued his tear at the plate Saturday, and carries an 11-game hitting streak into today's series finale. McGee, who was hitting just an even .200 on the season through Apr. 16, has gone a torrid 25-49 (.510) at the dish over his past 13 games to raise his batting average more than 100 points to .302. Junior Brendan White meanwhile was the pitching star, registering a career-high 12 strikeouts in the Game Two win. White now sits just one strikeout shy of tying the program's single-season record, and leads the MAAC with six complete games while ranking second in both ERA (2.29) and strikeouts (90).

Siena's 81 victories over Niagara are the program's most vs. any opponent, and the Saints' .659 winning percentage is the squad's second best all-time vs. any MAAC foe (Saint Peter's - .778). Siena has captured 19 of the past 23 meetings between the programs in now taking seven of the past eight series dating back to 2011.
