Siena (14-26) enters the final month of the regular season fresh off a pivotal three-game sweep of Iona last weekend in Loudonville. The series triumph evened the Saints' conference record to 9-9, while vaulting them into the No. 6 spot in the MAAC Standings with just two league series remaining. The top-six teams qualify for the MAAC Tournament to be played later this month in Staten Island.
Several Siena players are set to put noteworthy streaks on the line this weekend.
Zach Durfee has reached base safely in 28 straight games, while
Brian Kelly's streak has reached 26 straight. Meanwhile freshmen
Ryan McGee and
Devan Kruzinski are looking to build off hot ends to April, as each carries a five-game hitting streak into May. McGee went a stellar 13-22 at the dish last week en route to earning his first career MAAC Rookie of the Week honor.
Siena and Northeastern (20-24) have met just five previous times, with the Saints holding a 3-2 advantage in the series. The programs last met for an ECAC series in 1986, in which the Huskies won two of three.
The Huskies have won their first two games this week posting one-run non-conference road wins at UMass Lowell and Bryant to snap a five-game losing streak. The Huskies posted 36 wins last season, earning an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament and the No. 3 seed in the Raleigh Regional.
