Despite not yet hitting the course for cross country season during the 2020-21 school year, Siena's Men's & Women's Cross Country squads were hard at work in the classroom. The Saints placed a new program record of 25 total student athletes on the 2020 MAAC Cross Country All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Wednesday. Those honored included a record 13 male runners and a record-tying 12 female runners.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at his/her institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. A total of 104 male and 110 female student athletes were placed on this year's Cross Country All-Academic Team.
The men tied for the third-highest representation on the list among the conference's 11 schools and improved from eight honorees last season. Graduate student Stosh Davis and senior Michael Rautter each were named to the squad for the fourth time, while seniors Chris Estremera, Jacob Greski, and Peter Wagner took home their third All-Academic Team awards. Junior Owen Walker earned recognition for the second time, while senior Ryan Holland and sophomores Christopher Adamski, Tommy Anderson, Ryan Famiglietti, Matthew Laframboise, Mark Nunziata and Nathan Poirier took home the honor for the first time.
The women's cross country team featured double-digit honorees on the All-Academic Team for the third straight year, tying their best mark of 12 honorees in 2018. Seniors Carissa Kahn, Morgan Serkes and Monica Strain were named to the squad for the third time, while juniors Julia Bryant, Hannah Gallagher, Megan Linendoll, and Olivia Lomascolo earned the award for the second time. Junior Olivia Durant and sophomores Sydney Levison, Delia McDade Clay and Sophia Vinciguerra were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team for the first time in their collegiate careers.
