EDISON, NJ – With just two days remaining until Siena Swimming & Diving's 2021-22 Regular Season opener, the MAAC announced the results of the annual Preseason Coaches Poll. Siena was chosen eighth in the poll after finishing eighth at the most recent MAAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships in 2020.
The poll was released following the postponement of the 2020-21 dual meet season and the formal running of the MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Siena will take the pool on Saturday, October 9 for its first regular season dual meet action since February 2, 2020.
Five of the 10 participating MAAC programs received a first-place vote in this year's preseason poll, with three-time defending champions Fairfield taking first with 95 total votes and five first-place ballots. Iona took second at 86 total and two first-place votes, while Marist (77), Canisius (64), and Rider (62) each received one first-place vote. Upcoming opponents Monmouth (51) and Niagara (48) were chosen just ahead of the Saints (31), who finished over Manhattan (21) and Saint Peter's (15).
Siena will take part in a tri-meet with Binghamton and conference foe Niagara to kick off the season on Saturday at 1 PM in Vestal, New York.
