Swimming & Diving to Race at 2021 Siena Classic Time Trials

The Saints will Take the Pool for Action on Sunday, April 25

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Following the cancellation of dual meet competition and the formal 2020-21 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, Siena Swimming & Diving will take the pool for a special inter-squad meet on Sunday, April 25. The Saints will compete at the 2021 Siena Classic Time Trials at the Siena Swim Center, with action kicking off at 2:00 PM in Loudonville.

"The team is definitely looking forward to this chance to step up and swim fast, especially after the uncertainties of this past year and bumps in the road that we've had to deal with as a team," first year head coach Brogan Barr said. "I'm proud of them for showing up and making the most of every day that we've had together. We are excited to see how all of the time that we've spent on race execution details like breakouts, turns, and finished translates to some good swims to wrap up this year."

The Siena Classic will focus on the individual times of the swimmers rather than team score competition but will keep the traditional dual meet format. The meet format of the 2021 Siena Classic Time Trials is outlined below:

200 Freestyle
100 Backstroke
100 Breaststroke
200 Butterfly
50 Freestyle

Siena swimmers will have a chance to record official times for the first time during the 2020-21 season, with preparations for the 2021-22 campaign in sight. The Saints recorded an eighth-place finish at the 2020 MAAC Championships while setting new school records in the 800 freestyle relay and the 100 butterfly.

The event will follow the spectator policy that went into place by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference at the beginning of April, with two family members per student athlete allowed to attend the meet.
