Fall 2021 MAAC Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll Announced

Annual Poll Released Days Before Season Begins

EDISON, NJ – Following a successful Spring 2021 campaign, the MAAC released its annual Preseason Coaches Poll ahead of the Fall 2021 men's soccer season. Siena Men's Soccer was selected 10th in the poll after finishing eighth last season and advancing to the MAAC Tournament for the first time since 2016.

Reigning MAAC Regular Season Champion Quinnipiac was selected at the top of the poll, garnering 115 total votes and seven of 11 first place ballots. Fairfield and 2020-21 MAAC Champion Monmouth tied for second, with each taking home 96 votes, the Hawks earning three first place votes and the Stags taking home one.

Rider took fourth with 89 votes, while Marist (71), Iona (59), Niagara (55), Saint Peter's (48), and Manhattan (46) followed successively. The Saints earned 33 votes to move up a spot from last year's poll, while Canisius received 18 votes to round things out.

Quinnipiac's Brage Aasen was selected as the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year and led off a Preseason All-MAAC squad which featured six Bobcats, four players from Monmouth, one from Rider and one from Fairfield.

Siena returns 18 letter winners from last year while adding 10 newcomers to its roster. The Saints will look to build on a 2-5-1 mark during the 2020-21 season that saw them refrain from losing at home for the first time since 2014. The Green and Gold will begin the Fall 2021 season at home on Thursday, August 26 at 4:30 PM against Sacred Heart at Hickey Field and live on Siena All-Access.
