EDISON, NJ – After putting forth a clutch second half effort to lead his team to victory, Siena Men's Soccer's Bilal Hersi earned his first career MAAC Weekly Honor Monday. The sophomore was honored at the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week to become the fourth different Saint to earn a weekly award this season.
The Decatur, Georgia native played a large role in the team's 3-2 comeback victory over Brown at Hickey Field on Saturday, registering a goal and an assist as part of the year's three-goal effort in the second half. Hersi played a long ball toward the near side to register an assist in the team's game tying goal in the 69th minute, and finished a feed in the box just under two minutes later to score the game-winner. Hersi is tied for second on the team with five total points, stemming off two goals and an assists on the year.
Hersi's accolade represents a continuation of the team's recent success, with the Saints 2-0-1 over its last three matches and off to its best start (4-3-1) in seven years.
