Monroe Takes Home Fourth MAAC Weekly Award to End Season

MAAC Golden Glove Award Winner Closes Career with Honors

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Just hours after being heralded as the 2022 MAAC Golden Glove Award winner as the league's top goalkeeper and a First Team All-MAAC selection, Siena Men's Soccer's Greg Monroe took home yet another MAAC weekly award. The graduate student was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season as the league issued its final weekly awards.

The Clifton Park, New York native ended the regular season by recording his seventh and the team's eighth clean sheet of the year to tie both himself and the Saints for single-season shutout records. Monroe made nine saves during the Saints' 2-0 shutout road win over Fairfield last Wednesday, which allowed the team to secure a trip to the postseason for the third straight year.

Monroe set five program records during his final campaign in Green and Gold, while ranking top-three in the league in saves, saves per-game, minutes played, save percentage, and goals-against-average. He previously took home MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on October 10, September 19, and August 29, and now owns the most DPOW honors by any Saint in program history.

Siena advanced to the MAAC Quarterfinals before concluding the year with an 8-5-6 overall record and its third consecutive postseason appearance.
