Box Score 2 LEESBURG, FL – Siena Softball (2-4) ended its first weekend of the 2022 season on a high note, playing to a Sunday split at The Spring Games in Leesburg, Florida. The Saints rebounded from a 6-0 loss to North Florida to take down Florida Gulf Coast, 4-2 for their second win of the season.

The Saints began day three with UNF working off the strength of seven strikeouts defensively to limit Siena to only three hits on the day. The Ospreys plated two runs in the second, to in the third, one in the fourth, and one more in the sixth to steadily build out their lead. Siena got his from junior

Siena 4, Florida Gulf Coast 2
The Saints ended their first of two weekends in Florida on the schedule with a win in their first-ever meeting with the Eagles. After an RBI triple plated a pair for FGCU in the top of the first, the Saints used solid pitching from freshman
Adriana Romano to retire eight straight batters and set the stage for the team to take the lead in the middle innings.
Siena got on the board thanks to an RBI single from Ulrich that sent home senior
Ava Fitzmaurice in the home half of the fourth, and used a crooked inning in the fifth to grab hold of the lead for good. Sophomore
Mikala Fletcher and junior Stile scored on an error to give the Saints the lead, while junior Alba plated sophomore
Isabella Pardo for an insurance run with an RBI single. Romano (1-0) earned her first collegiate win in the circle by striking out four and allowing just two runs over six innings, while Fitzmaurice picked up a one-inning save.
Siena will have next weekend off before returning to the Sunshine State for six games at the Madeira Beach Invitational at Madeira Beach, Florida.
