EDISON, NJ – Ahead of the start of the 2022 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, the conference released the 2022 MAAC All-Academic Team for both sports. Siena placed 13 student athletes on the team, tying for the second-most selections in program history.
Siena took home an impressive 3.50 team GPA for the Fall 2021 semester, with three swimmers earning a spot on Siena's 4.0 Club. The program was recently honored with Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the 19
th straight semester.
Seniors
Sarah Duggan and
Abigail Sheridan each earned All-Academic Team honors for the third time in their collegiate careers, while juniors
Elisabeth Balicanta,
Maggie Caputo,
Reilly King, and
Jessica Shine were named to the team for the second time. Juniors
Ellie Murphy and
Kristyn Sampath joined sophomores
Demi Bobarakis,
Natalie Colaizzo,
Audrey Shultz,
Talia Spenziero, and
Emily Sulik in taking home All-Academic Team honors for the first time.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. A total of 124 women's swimming & diving student athletes were named to this year's squad, with Fairfield leading the way at 17 selections.
The Saints will take the pool at the Burt Flickinger Aquatics Center in Buffalo, New York for the 2022 MAAC Championships beginning tomorrow, February 9, through Saturday, February 12.
