Starting Lineup: Quick Hits

  • Siena enters postseason play after putting together a successful regular season that has it on the brink of setting multiple program records. The Saints will tie a program record for most wins in a season with their next victory, and will also tie the longest winning streak in program history. Siena put together a 29-win season in 2014, while recording a program-record 11-game win streak during the 2012 campaign. Additionally, Siena's 14 conference wins are tied for the second-most in program history, and the Saints are tied for the second-most overall wins among MAAC teams this season.
  • The Saints' league-high ten-game winning streak has consisted of four consecutive doubleheader sweeps – most recently at Niagara last Saturday. Siena will take the field in the Buffalo area for the third time in just five days Wednesday After having taken 1-0 and 4-2 wins over the Purple Eagles.
  • In addition to nearing team records, Siena also boasts a number of players who are within reach of single-season program marks. Sophomore Isabella Pardo's 59 hits rank tied for sixth in program history, while her 32 runs are tied for eighth. Junior Emma McLaughlin sits tied for the tenth-most doubles with 12, while senior Ava Fitzmaurice's three triples are tied for the third-most in single season history. Junior Jocelyn Ulrich's 25 walks drawn is tied for the third-most in a single campaign. On the other side of the ball, freshman Adriana Romano has tossed 114 strikeouts this season, good to tie the fifth-most in single-season history and the second among Siena freshmen.
  • As a team, Siena leads the MAAC in both doubles (65) and doubles per-game (1.33), and holds the highest team fielding percentage (.973) in the MAAC. The Saints also rank second in on-base percentage (.350) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.13). Individually, Ulrich is third in walks drawn (25), fourth in on-base percentage (.432), sixth in OPS (.965), and seventh in slugging percentage (.533), while Fitzmaurice is tied for the most sacrifice flies (4), and senior Sabrina Vargas has been hit by the most pitches (ten). Romano's strikeout total is the sixth-best in the league, while the freshman ranks fourth in opposing batting average (.210).
  • Siena has eclipsed the 20-win mark in a single campaign for the tenth time in program history. The Saints also reached double-digit home victories for the third straight eligible year.
  • The Saints have also played road warriors this year, setting the program record for road wins in a single season with 12. Siena's victories this year have come in eight different states and provinces, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Florida.
  • The Green and Gold began conference play with seven straight victories, and stood as one of just 12 teams nationally who had not dropped a conference game as of April 15.
  • Four different Saints have taken home MAAC weekly awards this season, with the team tying the program record for most awards garnered in a single season at six. Sophomore Mikala Fletcher was named the MAAC Player of the Week while Romano was both the Pitcher and Rookie of the Week on May 3, with Fitzmaurice and freshman Kyleigh Potter each having won two Player and Rookie of the Week awards each, respectively.
