LOUDONVILLE, NY – Twenty-eight Siena Cross Country student athletes have been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team ahead of the running of the 2023 MAAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Siena's men's program led the league with 15 selections, while the women posted 13 honorees.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at Siena and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Overall, 86 male and 110 female for a total of 196 athletes comprised the 2023 MAAC Cross Country All-Academic Team.
Men's fifth year student athletes
Tommy Anderson,
Aidan Gillooley, and
Matthew Laframboise made the team for the fourth time in their collegiate careers, while seniors
Christopher DeForest,
Ben Guerin,
Killian McNamee, and
Jimmy Smith were selected for the third time. Juniors
Jackson Cayward,
Collin Clinton,
Noah Greski, and
Nathaniel Sletten made the MAAC All-Academic Team for the second time, while sophomores
Jayson Chichelli,
PJ Dauer,
Tyler Greene, and
Brody Santagata were selected for the first time.
On the women's side, graduate student
Sophia Vinciguerra was honored for the fourth time, while seniors
Miranda Gilbert, Katharine Hesler, and
Isabella Painter made the team for the second time. Juniors
Julia Caputo,
Keira Flaherty,
Claire Gardner, and
Christina Peppy were selected for the second time, while sophomores
Kate DeForest,
Izzy McNamee,
Mattingly O'Rourke,
Chloe Poulos, and
Julianna Tourangeau were honored for the first time.
Siena is set to compete at the 2023 MAAC Cross Country Championships at Twin Ponds at The Farm in Montgomery, New York on Saturday, October 27, with the women racing at 11 AM and the men set for Noon. Siena will try to follow up a program-best pair of second place finishes from last season.
