Fitzmaurice Powers Way to Player of the Week

Siena softball Graduate Student Took Home Award For Second Time This Season

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Softball graduate student Ava Fitzmaurice continues to impress across the league on both sides of the ball. The Greenville, New York native was named the MAAC Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Fitzmaurice batted .500 (10-20) with 11 RBI's five runs scored, two doubles, two triples, and a home run over six games last week, leading the Saints to a 3-1 conference record during that time. She also slugged .950, held a .565 on-base percentage, and stole three bases. The two-way player also went 2-1 in the circle with 13 strikeouts over 15 innings as well.

Also named the MAAC Player of the Week back on February 14, Fitzmaurice recorded multiple hits in four of six games last week, including going 3-4 with five RBI's in the form of two doubles and a two-run home run in game two of the Saints' doubleheader sweep over MAAC rival Manhattan on April 4. She also went 2-4 with a go-ahead RBI triple that propelled the team to a come-from-behind 7-6 win at defending MAAC champion Canisius on Saturday.

Siena begins a busy eight-game week with a non-conference doubleheader at Bryant on Wednesday, April 12, with first pitch set for 2 PM & 4 PM in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
