Starting Lineup: Quick Hits
  • Having already posted its 12th 20-win season and off to its best start in program history through 34 games, the Saints continue a home week with a 7-1 home record thus far, and will look to continue success from Thursday's doubleheader sweep. Siena took 4-1 and 10-3 wins over Army West Point to lock up its seventh doubleheader sweep of the season and the second in as many days.
  • If completed in its entirety, the team's scheduled eight-game home stand will match its longest consecutive home action since hosting ten straight games in 2008.
  • Siena currently owns the second-highest RPI among MAAC programs at 133, and leads the league in n-base percentage (.369) while ranking second in doubles (48), doubles per-game (1.41), scoring (4.79), shutouts (7), slugging percentage (.401), total stolen bases (73), and stolen bases per-game (2.15).
  • Individually, graduate student and two-time MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Ava Fitzmaurice leads the conference in hits (44), while ranking third in batting average (.393), ERA (1.96), RBI's per-game (0.94), slugging percentage (.598), and stolen bases (16).
  • Sophomore McKenzie Swinson is tied for the single-season program record in stolen bases with 18. Graduate student Sabrina Vargas is tied for the fifth-most stolen bases in program history with 28, while Fitzmaurice is tied for tenth at 23.
  • The Saints have stolen 73 bases as a team, and are nearing the single-season team record for swipes (74) set back in 1979.
  • Several Saints are nearing the 100 hit marks in a Siena uniform, including Fitzmaurice (99), senior Angelina Stile (92), and senior Emma McLaughlin (90). Junior Isabella Pardo and Vargas previously surpassed the 100-hit mark this season.
  • Marist owns a 39-25 all-time advantage over the Saints, while Quinnipiac also leads the series, 18-14. Siena will welcome both programs to Loudonville for the first time since 2018, and will so after knocking the Red Foxes out the 2022 MAAC Tournament with a 3-1 win in the Semifinals.
  • Preseason All-MAAC outfielder Pardo – who was a Second Team All-MAAC selection last season while setting the single-season program record for hits – recorded her 100th collegiate hit on March 2 against Sacramento State.
  • Siena swept the first MAAC Weekly Awards of the 2023 season, with Fitzmaurice taking home Player of the Week, senior Nicole Patille earning MAAC Pitcher of the Week, and first baseman Emma Petersen winning MAAC Rookie of the Week honors. Redshirt freshman Alissa Eimont was honored as the MAAC Co-Rookie of the Week on April 4.
  • Picked to finish fifth in the 2023 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, Siena returned nearly its entire offense from last season, including 16 letterwinners.
On Marist:
  • Under the direction of 15th year head coach Joe Ausanio, the Red Foxes saw a seven-game win streak snapped by dropping the back half of a mid-week series at UMass on Wednesday. Marist has split this season with defending MAAC champion Canisius while sweeping Niagara and Saint Peter's.
  • Marist leads the league and ranks 22nd nationally with 79 total stolen bases while ranking second in batting average at .285. Individually, redshirt freshman Haley Ahr is tied with Fitzmaurice for the league lead in hits (44) and leads the conference with 12 doubles.
  • Marist has taken home 11 total MAAC weekly awards between seven different players, including Ahr – who has earned four Player of the Week and three Rookie of the Week accolades thus far.
On Quinnipiac:
  • The Bobcats have dropped six of their last seven games, including a sweep at the hands of Canisius, a sweep to Fairfield and a split with Mount St. Mary's QU swept Niagara to begin conference play, and earned a 5-0 shutout over The Mount last Saturday.
  • Led by fifth year head coach Hillary Smith, the Bobcats have already amounted their most wins in a season since 2019, and are aiming to return to a six-team MAAC Tournament for the first time since 2016.
  • The team is led offensively by freshman Mary Fogg, who steadies them in batting average (.367), hits (33), and runs scored (17).
