Softball Adds Pair to Incoming Class

Saints Announce Addition of Two More to Class of 2027

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Following the conclusion of the 2023 season, Siena Softball Head coach Casey Bump announced the addition of two more incoming Saints to the team's Class of 2027. Infielder Carlie Venables and pitcher/infielder Hailey Francois will join the program beginning next fall.

Carlie Venables | Infield | Laurel, Delaware | Laurel HS

A multi-sport star in high school, Venables was an All-State selection for both softball and basketball, and made First Team All-conference in field hockey, basketball, and softball. A team captain for all three sports, she eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in basketball, and was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player by her softball coaches. Venables also will graduate inside the top-ten in her academic class.

Coach Bump on Venables: "Carlie is a strong athlete with speed and range. She has a very good glove and a quick release that we expect will translate well to any position on the infield. We look forward to getting her on campus."

Hailey Francois | RHP/Infield | Albuquerque, New Mexico | Cibola HS

Coach Bump's second recruit to join the team from New Mexico, Francois lettered on the varsity softball team for three years and took home Second Team All-District honors during her sophomore and junior seasons. She was named an Academic All-District member as a sophomore, and was an Academic Honor Award recipient during all four years of high school, as well as on the All-Academic Team during her sophomore and junior years. She also lettered in NAHS all four years and served as the NAHS Vice President.

Coach Bump on Francois: "Hailey has the potential to develop into an impact pitcher for us. She has a very good spin and movement, and hits her spots well. She pitches with a plan, and it will be fun to watch her grow."

The pair join five other previously announced incoming freshmen that will make up Siena Softball's incoming class of 2027. The Saints recently wrapped its second straight 30-win campaign with its sixth straight appearance at the MAAC Tournament, and with a First Team All-Region selection for the first time ever.
