LOUDONVILLE, NY – New Siena Men's Basketball Head Coach
Gerry McNamara has announced his second official addition. Peter Carey, who played for two seasons under McNamara when he served as an assistant coach at Syracuse, has matriculated to Siena.

"Peter moves so well at his position, but it's how hard he plays that I love most," said McNamara. "He lays it on the line when he's on the court. Peter brings a ton of ability to our program, and I think with his talent and work ethic that he's going to continue to get better and better. He's going to have a big impact here."

The 6-11, 205-pound Carey arrives in Loudonville as a rising red-shirt sophomore and will have three years of eligibility remaining. The Sunderland, Massachusetts product appeared in 17 games spanning his two seasons at Syracuse University (2022-24), amassing nine points and 15 rebounds in 91 total minutes of action.

Carey saw action in 17 games this past winter for Syracuse, totaling nine points and 12 rebounds over 71 minutes. He played in three games as a freshman for the Orange.

Carey was a three-star recruit coming out of high school, and was rated as the seventh best player overall in Massachusetts and the 60
th best power forward nationally in his class by 247 Sports. He spent parts of two seasons at Northfield Mount Hermon – where he served as a team captain – after beginning and ending his high school career at Frontier Regional.

Carey played his AAU basketball for New York Lightning Select.
