LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics announced the final recipient of the Leo Dufort Student Athlete of the Month Award for the 2023-2024 school year on Tuesday afternoon.
Softball senior outfielder
Isabella Pardo was honored following a four-year career with the Saints.
Pardo, who was named a team captain this season, graduated earlier this month with a 3.27 GPA and a degree in Health Studies/Health Science.
Previously, Pardo was a member of the team's leadership council, a NFCA All-America Scholar and MAAC Academic Honor Roll member.
Pardo had a career batting average of .328 with 130 runs scored, 211 hits, a .379 on-base percentage and 39 stolen bases in 189 starts.
The Anaheim, CA native earned All-MAAC Second Team honors for a third consecutive season.
Already the program's single-season hits queen, Pardo moved up to second all-time in hits.
She was also named to the MAAC Softball All-Championship Team and helped Siena win its first MAAC Softball Championship in program history.
The Leo Dufort Student Athlete of the Month Award is presented nine times annually (September-May) throughout the academic year. The award recognizes exemplary achievements in both academics and athletics. The late Leo Dufort received a B.S. in marketing and management from Siena in August of 1977. His entire academic career was completed on a part-time basis beginning in the spring of 1961, as a married adult while at the same time raising five children. He passed away suddenly of a heart attack while cross country skiing in February of 1993. His wife Jeanine wanted to do something to immortalize his memory. The original plaque was donated to athletics and the department began the Leo Dufort Student Athlete of the Month Award to help carry out his legacy. Dufort graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1954 and was a Navy Veteran (USS Bennington) who worked for JL Hammett Co. at the time of his death.
