LOUDONVILLE, NY – New Siena Men's Basketball Head Coach Gerry McNamara has announced his sixth official signing since taking the helm, and the first to join the Saints from the junior college ranks. Major Freeman, who was ranked the 41^st best junior college prospect and 11^th best guard by JucoRecruiting.com, matriculates to Siena College after starring for the past two seasons at Spartanburg Methodist Junior College in South Carolina.
 
"Major is a huge addition," said McNamara. "His production and efficiency last season were something we really needed for this group. Major can play as your primary point, but also as an off the ball scorer. When he gets to the paint, he's always in control to make the right play. I'm really excited about Major. I love guys that impact the game the way that he does in multiple areas. Major is going to be a big factor for us."
 
A 6-3, 180-pound guard, Freeman arrives in Loudonville as a rising junior with two years of eligibility remaining. The Atlanta, Georgia product led Spartanburg Methodist to back-to-back 20-win seasons while averaging 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and a 2.33 assist-to-turnover ratio while shooting 52% from the field including 42% from three spanning 59 total games.
 
Freeman earned NJCAA Region 10 First Team honors this past season after averaging 15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.4 steals.
 
Freeman, who attended Archer High School in his native Georgia, played on the AAU circuit for the Georgia Stars.
