Defending MAAC Champion Siena Softball Opens 2025 Slate Friday

Program’s 50th Season Begins at CSU Kickoff Tournament

Fresh off its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament title in program history, Siena Softball kicks off its league title defense this weekend at the CSU Kickoff Tournament in Charleston, SC. The Saints are set to play five games between Fri., Feb. 7, and Sun., Feb. 9 against Georgetown, Bellarmine, and Charleston Southern.

The program's 50th anniversary season starts with a pair of games on Fri., Feb. 7 against Georgetown (12:30 p.m.), and the host school Charleston Southern (5:30 p.m.).  The following day, the Green and Gold will play Bellarmine (12:30 p.m.) and Charleston Southern (5:30 p.m.) before rounding out the trip on Sun., Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. against Georgetown.

Fresh off its third-straight 30-win season, fifth-year head coach Casey Bump's Saints roll into 2025 after being selected second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll - tied for the best pick in program history (2004)

Siena set top-five single-season program marks last year in walks (1st, 147), fielding percentage (T-1st, .972), doubles (3rd, 73), stolen bases (3rd, 72), runs scored (4th, 240), and runs driven in (4th, 211). Catalysts to these marks included MAAC All-Tournament Team returners McKenzie Swinson - who broke her own single-season stolen base record with 25, and led the team with 36 runs scored - and Emma Petersen - whose 16 doubles were the second-most in a single-season in program history, and 41 RBI were the seventh-most in a single-season in program history.

MAAC Tournament MVP Alissa Eimont rides into the new season coming off a historic 2024 campaign inside the circle. While setting the new program single-season record with 40 appearances last season, Eimont also tied top marks with both 20 wins and four saves. In addition, the Aberdeen, NJ native cracked single-season program top-10 marks with 26 starts, a 1.94 ERA, 112 strikeouts, 15 complete games, three shutouts, and 184.0 innings pitched.

The Saints battle Georgetown for the first time since 2013, looking to improve upon their 2-0 mark against the Hoyas. Siena will play CSU for the second time ever, having beat them once last season, while the Green and Gold meet Bellarmine for the fourth time ever following three games against the Knights in 2024.

Following the CSU Kickoff Tournament, Siena heads to Dover, DE on Sat., Feb. 15 for a doubleheader against Delaware State beginning at noon.
