LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Softball is set to begin a week of home games with a pair of midweek non-conference contests. The Saints (15-13, 2-3 MAAC) welcome the Dartmouth Big Green to Loudonville for a single game at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday before hosting the Stonehill Skyhawks for a doubleheader Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.
Chris Watson will have the call Tuesday on ESPN+, while Steve Jones will have the ESPN+ call on Wednesday. Live stats and live X updates for both games can be found by clicking on the corresponding links.
Siena's six home games this week serve as the team's second-longest home stretch of the season, one game shy of matching a seven-game homestand that will last from Apr. 22-30.
Siena's production has been spread throughout the lineup top to bottom this season, with sophomore
Gracie Goewey featured making the second-year leap. Having matched her games played total from last season (28), Goewey has more than doubled her batting average from .148 to .337 so far, and leads the team in slugging (.542), total bases (45), runs (20), and home runs (4). Her nine multi-hit games also lead the Saints.
Consistent to the past three seasons in which Siena has set the program record for fielding percentage in a season, the Saints are right back at it in 2024. Through 28 games, Siena owns a MAAC-leading .978 fielding percentage which currently tops the single-season record of .972 set in 2022 & 2024.
Two Saints have also hit milestones earlier this season in
Alissa Eimont and
Emma Petersen. Eimont became the ninth player in program history to reach 200 career strikeouts, and is two away from moving into seventh all-time with 242 for her career, while Petersen joined the 100-hit club against Colgate on March 22.
On the verge of program history,
McKenzie Swinson recently became just the second player in program history to eclipse 50 career stolen bases. Sitting at 53, she is four away from surpassing the record of 56 set by 2024 Siena Hall of Fame inductee
Carrie Getz '05. Additionally, the senior is currently enjoying a .324 season at the plate (24-74) - which currently serves as the highest average of her career - with seven extra-base hits.
Dartmouth possesses a 10-11 overall record entering Tuesday's bout, as well as a 4-2 mark in Ivy League action. Alaana Panu leads the team hitting .366, while her three home runs and 19 RBI also top the Big Green. Cwen Wilson (.327) and Justice Malone also boast .300+ batting averages, while Faby Serna carries a 10-game hitting streak into the matchup. In the circle, Jensin Hall commands the staff with 11 starts and 66 innings pitched - posting a 4-4 record with a 2.44 ERA.
The Saints and Big Green meet for just the fourth time ever come Tuesday, with Dartmouth leading the all-time series 2-1. This will be the first time the sides meet in Loudonville in 21 years when Dartmouth took both games of a doubleheader on Apr. 27, 2004. The Saints won the most recent meeting on Feb. 25, 2023, in Madeira Beach, FL, 5-3. Trailing 3-1 in the seventh, Siena strung four runs in the top half of the inning to come from behind and win the lone neutral site meeting to date.
Stonehill enters Wednesday 7-18 overall and 0-6 in Northeast Conference action. Having lost 10 of their last 11 games, the Skyhawks are also 3-9 in true road games this season. The offense has combined to hit .240 this season, and average 3.36 runs per game, led by Lsabella Therrien's .333 average (19-57), as well as Piper Hofmann's .308 (20-65). Hoffman leads the team with six multi-hit games, and four multi-RBI games, while Therrien owns a modest four-game hitting streak. In the circle, four pitchers have gone 28+ innings this season, while the likes of Alex Sciarretto (1-6, 7.79 ERA), Lauren Donovan (2-4, 5.98 ERA), and Alexa Hospodar (2-4, 8.27 ERA) have each started six or more games.
Siena and Stonehill are set to play the third and fourth all-time games between the teams, with Siena having won the previous two against one of its newest Division I foes. The Saints and Skyhawks met on two separate occasions last season - once on Mar. 8 in Madeira Beach, FL, resulting in a 2-1 Siena win in eight innings, and again on Mar. 19 in North Easton, MA, where Siena topped Stonehill 10-1 in five frames. Eimont tossed both games against Stonehill, combining to go 12 innings with just two earned runs allowed on nine hits and two walks while striking out six. Swinson and
Madi Silber also belted home runs in the second meeting.
Following the midweek non-conference games, Siena hosts Sacred Heart for a three-game series from April 5-6. The Saints and Pioneers meet for a pair on Saturday, Apr. 5, with game one starting at noon before completing the series the following day, also at noon.
