LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Baseball red-shirt freshman catcher
Aidan Paradine has been named to the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List. The award is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding catcher by the Wichita Sports Commission.
Â
Paradine was one of just 56 Division I catchers nationally to be named to the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List, which was renamed after the former Florida State catcher and 12-year Major League Baseball veteran in 2019. Originally created in 2000, the award was formerly called the Johnny Bench Award.
Â
Paradine was one of five Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference catchers on the list along with Tyler Cotton (Saint Peter's), Frankie Ferrentino (Merrimack), Andreaus Lewis (Manhattan), and Ashby Vining (Saint Peter's).
Â
Paradine becomes the third Saint to be named to the National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List, joining Bryce Mordecki (2021) and Phil Madonna (2017, 2018).
Â
Named a Preseason All-Conference selection and the No. 3 MAAC draft prospect in the Class of 2026 by Perfect Game, Paradine has produced a monster season in his first year behind the dish for Siena. The Bayonne, New Jersey native currently ranks fifth overall in the MAAC in on-base percentage (.471) and eighth in average (.349).
Â
Paradine has appeared in all 36 games (35 starts) between catcher and designated hitter, and also currently leads the Saints in OPS (.995), runs scored (28), and walks (20), while adding five home runs and 29 RBI. He has reached base safely in 17 straight games, and earlier this season boasted an 11-game hit streak. Defensively, Paradine boasts a stellar .990 fielding percentage behind the plate, and has thrown out 12 would-be base stealers.
Â
Semifinalists for the 2025 Buster Posey Award will be announced May 19, with the finalists revealed June 5. The Buster Posey Award Ceremony will be held on June 26 at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas.
Â
Paradine and surging Siena – winners of eight of 11 and fresh off their first series sweep of the season – continue a nine-game road trip tomorrow at crosstown rival UAlbany with doubleheader action beginning at 2 p.m. Â
