Three years ago,
Christopher DeForest had run his fastest 10K time at the 2022 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships to finish 16
th overall.
On Saturday in the 2025 edition of the MAAC Track and Field Championships, the experience paid off for the graduate student as he ran another highly competitive time and now you can call him MAAC Champion of the 10K.
DeForest ran the course in 32:10.92 to best the field of 17 runners at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ on the Michael P. Brady Track and Field Complex.
Teammate
Colin Brunelle wasn't far behind as he finished on the podium as well with a third-place finish by .05 second. The Saints fared very well in this event overall as
Collin Clinton was fifth (32:21.03) and
Brody Santagata was eighth (32:53.80).
Day 1 for Siena began with the men's 1,500-meter trials with qualifiers from the Saints included
Killian McNamee (4:04.16) and
Jackson Cayward (4:04.29)
Three Saints qualified in the women's 1,500-meter.
Keira Flaherty (4:46.98),
Claire Gardner (4:48.31), and
Chloe Poulos (4:48.56) all advanced.
The women's 800-meter trails were a big bright spot for Siena as the Saints had four of the eight qualifiers with Flaherty (2:16.44), Gardner (2:17.89), McClintock (2:16.58), and O'Rourke (2:16.22).
Katie Hayes placed 35
th (2:28.81),
Marissa Navarra (2:35.58) was 38
th,
Olivia Schaffer (2:41.19) was 40
th in the event.
In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Collin Brown and
Connor Thomas each earned points for the Saints' scoreboard. Brown ran fifth in 9:28.09 while Thomas wound up eighth in 9:41.14.
Evan Wattie just missed out on the points board with a ninth-place spot (9:45.48) while
Nathaniel Sletten placed 17
th (10:23.12).
In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Kate DeForest (11:11.49) earned points with a fifth-place finish and
Katharine Hesler narrowly missed the points' board with a time of 11:35.60 and ninth place.
Siena's
Parris Porter (51.67) placed 24
th overall and
Noah Smith (52.88) was 29
th in the men's 400-meter trials while
Sara Fitzgerald (1:01.62) ran 19
th in the women's race of the 400-meter trials.
PJ Dauer (1:59.03) was 20
th and
Luke Tkaczyk (1:58.81) was 19
th in the men's 800-meter trials.
Day two on Sunday starts at 10 a.m. for field events and track events will begin at 12 p.m. with the last event set to go off at 3:50 p.m. in the women's 4x400-meter race.

Six Saints will take part in the men's 5,000-meter including Brunelle,
Noah Greski,
Christopher DeForest, Clinton, Brown and
Jake Passalugo while four women will take part in the women's 5,000. Katie Hesler, Kaitlin DeForest,
Christina Peppy and
Olivia Armenia will be among the competitors.
Siena will take part in both 4x800 and 4x400 relay races as well.
