LOUDONVILLE, NY - Excitement surrounding the 2025 Siena Men's Soccer season continues to build. The Saints were picked third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Poll Wednesday, marking the program's highest preseason selection on record (since 2001). Additionally, junior goalkeeper
Bennet Glinder repeated on the Preseason All-MAAC Team, while classmate
Mario Navarro Perez debuted on the squad as a forward.
Coming off a sophomore season which led to Second Team All-MAAC honors, Glinder ranked second in the league and 40th nationally allowing 1.001 goals per game. He was also second in the conference and tied 60th nationally with a .739 save percentage, while his six shutouts were the second-most in the MAAC and tied for 36th nationally. Glinder's shutout mark also tied for third-most in a single-season in program history.
Navarro Perez enters the 2025 season following Third Team All-MAAC honors in 2024. He led the team and tied for sixth in the conference with six goals last season, and also led the Green and Gold in shot percentage (.176), shots (34), and shots on-goal (17). Notably, he registered the game-winning goal against Manhattan in the MAAC Quarterfinals last season to send the Saints to the MAAC Semifinals for the second consecutive season.
Defending league champion Iona was selected as the MAAC Preseason Favorites in the 2025 MAAC Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll with 161 total votes including eight first-place votes, just ahead of Rider—who tallied 155 votes and one first-place ballot. Iona and Rider each closed out 2024 with the conference's top records at 6-1-1 before No. 1 Iona went on to edge out No. 2 Rider 1-0 in OT in the MAAC Championship.
Siena was chosen third with 124 votes after finishing 2024 with a 4-1-3 ledger in league play, and the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament. Marist and Quinnipiac shared fourth place with 120 votes each - Marist doing so with one first-place tally.
Sacred Heart finished in sixth place with 109 - including one first-place vote - while Manhattan was seventh (97) with one first-place vote, and Fairfield eighth (87) with one first-place vote. The rest of the standings rounded out with Mount St. Mary's (67), Merrimack (40), Canisius (39), Saint Peter's (36), and Niagara (28) in the 13-team field.
