Cayward Dazzles; Wins Jasper Fall Cross Country Invite

Siena Men take second; Women place inside Top-10

Graduate student Jackson Cayward dazzled at the Jasper Fall Cross Country Invitational by crossing the finish line first in 24:33.2 to take the men's individual crowd on Saturday at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, NY. 

The time was two-tenths of a second faster than his time on the same course during the 2023 MAAC Cross Country Championships, when he placed second overall in the 8K race.

The Siena Men's Cross-Country team had a strong performance throughout, taking five spots inside the Top-16 with senior Tyler Greene (24:41.8) taking third place, junior Colin Brunelle (25:16.1) earning ninth overall, graduate student Luke Tkaczyk finishing in 15th with a time of 25:35.6 and sophomore Evan Wattie closing right behind in 16th place (25:36.3). 

Other Siena men who finished inside the Top-50 were Collin Clinton (33rd), Connor Thomas (39th), Michael Ryan (42nd) and Behn Thomas (50th). 

The Saints men's team was second overall as a team with 44 points just behind winner Bucknell (32 points).

Chasing the Saints were Fordham (107 points), Seton Hall (134), Rider (158), Marist (183), Fairfield (227), Quinnipiac (232), NYU (232), UAlbany (251), Sacred Heart (292), Marywood (303), Manhattan (409), Saint Peter's (431), SUNY Delhi (441) and Manhattanville (506). 

On the women's side, the Siena Women placed 10th out of 16 teams. Senior Mattingly O'Rourke was the top finishers for the Saints with a time of 22:14.5 to place 25th overall. Fellow senior Julianna Tourangeau was 30th, clocking in at 22:27.1.  Junior Faith Skowvron (22:57.8) was 43rd overall while Kate DeForest ran in 23:28.3 for 54th overall. 

Quinnipiac finished first as a team with 36 points. The Bobcats were followed by Bucknell (43 points), Marist (129), Seton Hall (140), Fairfield (162), Sacred Heart (194), Fordham (197), NYU (212), Rider (219), Siena (222), Manhattan (244), UAlbany (356), SUNY Delhi (356), Marywood (425), Manhattanville (496) and John Jay (499).

Siena takes back to the course on Friday, October 3 when it takes part in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, PA on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
