LOUDONVILLE, NY—Siena Softball claimed two of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's (MAAC) first weekly awards of the season, as Emma Petersen was named MAAC Player of the Week and Violet Marta earned MAAC Pitcher of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Marta, a newcomer to the Saints, delivered a standout debut week in the circle, anchoring Siena's pitching staff during the CSU Kickoff. She recorded two wins across five games, highlighted by a complete-game performance in a 6–2 victory over Charleston Southern. In that outing, Marta allowed just two runs—only one earned—on seven hits over seven innings without issuing a walk. She also earned a win in relief in Siena's 9–6 triumph over Charleston Southern, tossing 4⅓ scoreless innings to halt the Buccaneers' momentum and secure the victory.
 
Petersen powered Siena's offense with consistent production and timely hitting throughout the week. She delivered multiple multi-hit performances and drove in key runs in several contests, punctuated by a two-hit, three-RBI outing in the Saints' 9–6 win over Charleston Southern. Petersen also homered against Central Michigan and recorded RBIs in three different games, showcasing her power and clutch presence in the middle of the lineup.
 
Siena returns to action Friday, Feb. 27, when the Saints face Bellarmine and Massachusetts in their opening games of the Make It Happen Games in Madeira Beach, FL.
