LOUDONVILLE, NY— The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) released its annual preseason coaches' poll Thursday, with Siena Men's Golf projected to finish fourth and Siena Women's Golf slotted seventh, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Under head coach
Steven Jensen, the Siena men enter the spring season with momentum after closing the fall campaign with a victory at the Crusader Invitational on Oct. 21. After beginning the final round tied for fourth, the Saints surged with a team score of -4 (276) to claim the tournament title in a 12-team field, finishing with a combined score of +4 (564).
The Siena women, led by second-year head coach
Noel Gebauer, look to build on a promising fall season highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Le Moyne Invitational on Oct. 21. Gebauer's squad aims to carry that late-season momentum into the spring portion of the schedule.
Fairfield, the defending MAAC men's champion, was unanimously selected as the preseason favorite, earning all 11 first-place votes and 121 points. Iona (102), Sacred Heart (93), Siena (85), and Mount St. Mary's (75) rounded out the top five in the 11-team poll.
On the women's side, defending MAAC champion Quinnipiac was chosen as the preseason favorite, collecting eight of nine first-place votes for 89 points. UAlbany earned the remaining first-place vote and finished second with 79 points, followed by Sacred Heart (71), Fairfield (60), and Merrimack (53) to complete the top five in the 10-team poll.
The postseason will culminate at the 2026 MAAC Championships, returning to Disney's Magnolia Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. For the first time in conference history, the men's and women's championships will be contested separately. The women's three-day, 54-hole championship is scheduled for Apr. 21–23, followed by the men's championship from Apr. 28–30.
