Siena Athletics Announces Addition of Rodriguez, Madden, and Carruth to Strength & Conditioning Staff

Saints add experienced trio of performance coaches led by new Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Kevin Rodriguez

LOUDONVILLE, NY — Siena Athletics has announced the addition of Kevin Rodriguez as its new Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, along with Patrick Madden and Dewight Carruth as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coaches.

The trio brings extensive experience developing student-athletes at the NCAA Division I and Division II levels, along with backgrounds in performance training, athlete development, program management, and building championship-level cultures.

"Kevin, Dewight, and Patrick represent exactly what we were looking for in building the future of our strength and conditioning program," said Assistant Vice President/Deputy Director of Athletics Lori Anctil. "Their collective experience, innovative approaches, and passion for student-athlete development make them an exceptional team. They each bring different strengths that complement one another, creating an environment where our coaches and student-athletes will thrive. Their leadership will not only enhance performance and reduce injury risk but also help cultivate the championship mindset and culture we are striving to build throughout Siena Athletics. Just as impressive as their credentials is the character they bring to Siena. Our coaches, student-athletes, and administration will love working with them, and we're excited to see the lasting impact they'll have on our athletic department."

Rodriguez arrives at Siena after spending the previous four seasons as Assistant Director of Athletic Performance at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. During his time with the Mocs, Rodriguez helped lead performance efforts for multiple programs, including men's basketball, women's golf, and beach volleyball, while also assisting with football operations.

"I'm extremely thankful for the opportunity to join Siena and couldn't be more excited to get started," said Rodriguez. "This is a place that wants to compete at a high level, and that's something I wanted to be a part of. My goal is to build strong relationships with our student-athletes, create a culture where they take pride in the work they put in every day, and help them become stronger, more resilient, and more confident both inside and outside the weight room. It's an honor to become part of the Siena community, and I'm excited to get to work."

Prior to Chattanooga, Rodriguez served as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Delta State University from 2019-22, where he established the program's first strength and conditioning system while overseeing training for all 13 Delta State sports. He also previously held graduate assistant and internship positions at Angelo State University, University of Mississippi, and Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Rodriguez earned his master's degree in Student Development and Leadership from Angelo State University and his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He is certified as a Strength & Conditioning Coach through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC).

Carruth joins Siena following a two-year stint as Assistant Sports Performance Director at Grambling State University, where he worked with men's and women's basketball programs while managing performance programming, athlete development, and collaboration with sports medicine and athletic administration.

"Thank you to Lori, the coaching staff, and Siena University for welcoming me aboard," said Carruth. "I am excited to join Siena University's athletic department and contribute to an excellent university. I look forward to working alongside our student-athletes and coaches to cultivate a strong culture of performance, discipline, and growth that propels us toward winning."

Carruth previously served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Mercer University and has additional human performance experience through the United States Air Force and United States Army. He holds CSCS and TSAC-F certifications through the NSCA, along with a USA Weightlifting Level 1 certification.

Madden joins the Saints after serving as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Hartwick College, where he oversaw training for all 19 athletic programs. He previously served as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at the College of Saint Rose and as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at Union College.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to step into the role in Siena University's Athletic Department," said Madden. "I look forward to collaborating with such a talented coaching staff. It's a privilege to be a part of a new strength and conditioning team, and I'm excited to help build stronger athletes with this organization."

A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F) through the NSCA, Madden earned his master's degree in Applied Exercise Science from Concordia University Chicago.

The Saints' strength and conditioning program will continue to focus on developing student-athletes through individualized training, injury prevention, performance enhancement, and preparation for championship success.
