LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - On a crisp autumn day this past Saturday, the baseball team overcame a two run first inning featured by a two-run home run from Jake Willis '08 and cruised to an 11-5 victory in the 35th annual Alumni Game. With a large turnout of 22 players, the alumni were cheered on by current professional players John Lannan of the Washington Nationals and Anthony Giansanti of the Chicago Cubs organization.
The alumni could not overcome a 17-hit barrage by the baseball team but played an outstanding game and all had a great time. Leading the alumni offensively were Willis and former pitcher Dennis Hogan '97 who each recorded two hits apiece. Shutout innings were thrown by Chuck Sohl `80, Will Hassett `09, Rick Seltzer '08, and assistant coach and former catcher Phil Cahill '09.
Leading the baseball team were senior tri-captain Kevin Quaranto, junior outfielder Teddy Trymbiski and freshman outfielder Greg Wilson who each had three hits.
The fans were in for a treat in the eighth inning when current junior righthander CJ Sohl pitched against his dad Chuck, who was an outfielder and pitcher for the Saints. Dad flied out to centerfield on the first pitch to allow CJ to have bragging rights in the family.
