The Siena softball team split two games on the final day of competition in the Winthrop Invitational Sunday, defeating Morgan State 3-2 and losing to the host Eagles 7-2. Amanda Filippazzo picked up the complete game victory in the Morgan State game.
Winthrop scored in all six of its at bates to take the first game of the day 7-2. The Saints scored single runs in the fourth and seventh on RBI hits by Amanda Ferro and Nastasha Powlowski. Kristen Borsella went the distance in the circle and took the loss.
Siena rallied from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 to pull out the 3-2 win over Morgan State. Courtney Mahan's homer tied the score in the second and Jen Duell and Lindsey McKeever scored the tying and go-ahead runs in the fifth before Filippazzo closed the door to pick up her first victory of the year.
The Saints don't return to action until March 11 when they take on Army at West Point.
