May 1, 2018 HEADstrong Release
LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Men's Lacrosse Senior Matt Quagliariello has been named to the inaugural honorary All-HEADstrong team. Quagliariello captained the Saints endeavor in raising money and awareness for the HEADstrong Foundation during the month of April.
The student athletes selected to the team were picked for their outstanding commitment, stewardship and exemplary efforts in supporting and advancing the mission of the HEADstrong Foundation. Quagliariello raised $560 of the Saints $1,218 during the month of April for the HEADstrong Foundation. The team's donations were the sixth most the 18 schools that received donations. Quagliariello's $560 raised was the third most of 118 student athletes across colleges and university who raised money during the month.
The HEADstrong Foundation was conceptualized by Nicholas Colleluori, a Hofstra University student-athlete who was terminally diagnosed with cancer entering his sophomore year. His public fight from the sidelines captivated the nation, and from his hospital bed he created an organization focused on empowering student-athletes to improve lives affected by the disease. Unfortunately, Colleluori would succumb to the disease before seeing his vision of the HEADstrong Foundation come to life, but asked his family to see the foundation into fruition in his stead.
