BOSTON, MA – Members of Siena's Indoor Track & Field teams concluded the program's weekend competition at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, MA Saturday. The team competed at the prestigious Boston University Track & Tennis Center for the third time this season.
The team's day began with three runners competing in the men's 5000-meter run. Freshman Peter Alden (14:55.09) and Brandon Olden (14:58.56) placed top-2 in their heat, with Alden finishing third overall, junior Aidan Canavan (14:58.08) grabbing sixth and Olden taking seventh. Sophomore Owen Walker then placed 12th overall in the men's 3000-meter race with a time of 8:36.97.
The only women's event of the day came in the form of the distance medley relay, which saw juniors Morgan Serkes, Holly Bednarek and Allison Hill team up with senior Carolyn Pellegrini to record a time of 12:16.87.
Later in the afternoon, four men's runners took part in the 1000-meter race. Freshman Matthew LaFramboise placed second in his heat with a time of 2:28.99, which was good enough to qualify him for the ICFA meet later this season. Junior Ryan Holland (2:30.62), freshman Nathan Poirier (2:34.77) and senior Matt Jacques (2:38.80) also took part in the event.
Freshman Tommy Anderson then competed as the team's lone representative in the men's mile, running a time of 4:31.80. Freshman Aidan Gillooley capped the meet by running an IC4A qualifying time of 8:25.79 in the evening edition of the men's 3000-meter race.
Following the conclusion of six consecutive weekends of regular season competition, Siena will head to the 2020 MAAC Indoor Track Championships, which are set for February 22-23 at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in New York City.
