BOSTON, MA – Siena Cross Country continued its Fall 2021 postseason campaign Friday, sending its top seven men's and women's runners to compete at the 2021 NCAA Men's & Women's Cross Country Northeast Regionals at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts. The men placed 18th while the women took 20th in both team's best finishes since 2018.
Syracuse took the top team finish on the men's side, while Harvard claimed the women's title. MAAC Champion Iona finished third in the men's race and sixth on the women's side, with the Saints placing third among MAAC programs on both sides.
The meet was highlighted by the best individual finish in the history of the women's program from senior Olivia Lomascolo, who placed 53rd with a time of 21:53. Junior Keira Cohen, who has freshman eligibility, placed 86th with a time of 22:25 as the team's second runner to cross the line, logging the fastest time for a freshman ever run by a Saint at the NCAA Northeast Regional meet. Graduate student Regina Rosati (22:42) placed 103rd, while junior Elaine Atanasova (23:14, 149th), freshman Kayla Schmidt (23:22, 152nd), junior Sophia Vinciguerra (23:39, 169th), and junior Delia McDade Clay (24:01, 186th) rounded out the team's seven-person competition squad.
The men's team was guided by junior Brandon Olden, who logged a time of 32:14 and a 69th place finish in the men's 10k. graduate student Aidan Canavan dashed to a time of 32:30 and an 86th place finish, while graduate counterpart Stosh Davis was the team's third finisher with a time of 33:15 for 120th. Sophomore Christopher DeForest (33:28, 134th), junior Tommy Anderson (33:38, 141st)Â and sophomore Killian McNamee (34:10, 165th) rounded out Siena's finishers.
Siena has one final postseason cross country event remaining on its schedule, with the annual IC4A/ECAC Cross Country Championships set for Saturday, November 20 at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, New York.
