LOUDONVILLE, NY – For the third time in the first four weeks of the season, freshman
Logan Banek is the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday by the conference office.
Banek, a native of New Hartford, NY has now earned five overall MAAC weekly awards with two additional MAAC Face Off Specialist of the Week awards to his name.
Banek won 27-of-43 face offs (.628) with 17 ground balls in a win at Binghamton and a game at Dartmouth during this past week of action.
The product of New Hartford High School continues to lead the MAAC both in ground balls per game (9.40) and also in face off winning percentage at .644 (76 of 118).
Banek leads the next players by over three ground balls per game (Micah Hanson of Canisius is averaging 6.29 ground balls per game) and next best face off specialist by an .80 win percentage (Luke Romanek of Sacred Heart at .566).
Siena (2-3, 0-0 MAAC) will return to the field this Saturday on the road when it opens conference play at Sacred Heart (4-2, 0-1 MAAC) at 12 p.m. in Fairfield, CT.
