In their outdoor season opener, Siena Men's and Women's track began with 6th and 8th respective team finishes. Evans Kibet and Travis Fairlee qualified for the IC4A Championship.
"I'm really pleased with how we performed after over a month break between seasons," said head coach John Kenworthy. "For our athletes to come out and immediately be building on their performances from indoor is a great sign for this spring."
Kibet broke the school record in the 1500m with a 3:49.63 performance. His time would land him in first in the event and qualify him for the IC4A Championships. Fairlee found himself in fourth place with a personal record of 3:56.28, which was also good for an IC4A Championship qualification.
Michael Rautter set a personal best 4:02.16 time in the 1500m which was good for 10th place. Rautter also set a personal best 2:02.68 time in the 800m. Freshman Jacob Greski ran a 2:00.68 800m run for a personal best mark.
In the women's 400m both Jaimie Polanco and Holly Bednarek set personal bests. Polanco came through at 1:01.35 while Bednarek set a 1:02.21 mark.
Men's runners William Randall, Shaun VanBuskirk and Jack O'Hara came in third, fourth and fifth in the 5000m race. Randall and VanBurkirk both set personal bests of 15:05.66 and 15:19.43, while O'Hara came through at 15:29.44.
Monica Strain took fifth place overall in the 800m Finals with a personal best 2:24.37 time. She would also finish in ninth place in the 1500m with a time of 4:48.73.
In the 1500m, Carolyn Pellegrini took fifth place with her personal record of 4:45.85. Abbi Wright took 14th in the event with her 4:53.84 time.
Regina Rosati took 7th place for points for the Saints with an 18:14.15 time in the 500m race. Karissa Kahn took on the 3000m steeplechase for the Green and Gold and took fourth place with a time of 11:58.95.
The women's 4x800m relay of Bednarek, Forman, McDonough, and McNally finished in 9:51.08 for 10 points for the Saints. The men's group of Michael Carrol, Cole DiGiacomo, Christopher Estremera and Travis Fairlee came in at 8:31.6 to take second place.
In the 4x400m relay, Fairlee, Greski, Matt Jacques and Evans Kibet came through at 3:36.27.
Siena will travel to Princeton, New Jersey for the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday, April 6.
