McNamara Makes Official Seventh Addition, Fourth Freshman to Join Saints 2025-26 Roster

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Basketball Head Coach Gerry McNamara has announced his seventh official addition, and fourth incoming freshman to join the Saints 2025-26 roster, with the signing of Owen Schlager.

"Owen is a true combo guard that can play at all three levels," said McNamara. "He has great size, is a terrific decision maker in the pick and roll game and, if he gets downhill, is a handful attacking the rim. Owen is coming from a great high school program where he is the all-time leading scorer for Larry Kostelac, but there's a lot more to his game than just scoring. His potential of where he can take his game has a really high ceiling. I'm very excited to watch Owen's growth and impact on our program."

A 6-3, 185-pound guard from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania who initially committed verbally last August, Schlager finished as the Shamrocks all-time scoring leader with 2,135 career points. He was rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and the No. 13 player in Pennsylvania in the Class of 2025 entering his senior season.

Schlager secured Mid-Penn Capital Division Player of the Year honors and both PennLive 2025 Big 15 All-Star Team and All-District 3 Tournament Team acclaim after leading the 'Rocks to a 21-4 record and the PIAA District 3A Championship. He averaged a Mid-Penn leading 24.8 points while adding 6.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.4 steals, and 1.3 blocks this past winter.

Schlager was the PennLive 2024 Player of the Year and earned Class 3A First Team All-State honors after averaging 23.7 points as a junior. He led Trinity to a District 3 title and the state semifinals his sophomore season.

Schlager played his AAU basketball for Philly Pride.

Schlager is the seventh officially announced newcomer – and fourth freshman – to join the 2025-26 Siena Men's Basketball team, following transfers Riley Mulvey, Antonio Chandler, and Tasman Goodrick, and fellow freshmen Christian Jones, Isaiah Henderson, and Francis Folefac.
