Herbst (2007-10) stacks up against college lacrosse’s top all-time goalkeepers, still ranking inside the top-10 in NCAA Division I History in career goals-against average (7.02) and within the top-15 in minutes played (3,504). He led the nation with a 6.08 GAA in 2008, which ranked eighth-best in NCAA single-season history, and his 6.34 GAA the following season is inside the top-20. A two-time USILA Honorable Mention All-American (2009, 2010), Herbst was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year after guiding the Saints to the program’s first MAAC Regular Season Championship in 2007, and was tabbed the MAAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after piloting Siena to the program’s initial MAAC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament Appearance in 009.
The program’s all-time leader in goalie wins (42), and third in saves (64), he was a three-time Second Team All-MAAC honoree (2007-09) and was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week a program record 13 times. Herbst led the Saints to 44 wins, three MAAC Regular Season titles (2007, 2009, 2010), a 27-5 conference mark, and capped his stellar career in 2010 by being named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, a First Team All-MAAC selection, Senior CLASS Award candidate and a USILA North/South Senior All-Star Game participant. Herbst became the first player in program history to be drafted into Major League Lacrosse when he was selected 22nd overall by the Long Island Lizards in the 2010 MLL Draft.
