He won the most valuable player award during the Indians' NCIT Championship run, while eclipsing the 1,000 point mark during the team's 75-55 win over Loras College in the semifinal round. He was in integral part of the 1950 Siena squad that posted a 28-5 record, won the NCIT, ranked second nationally in defense and became Siena’s first ever team to play in Madison Square Garden. Lange also played baseball at Siena.

Lange used combined his love of of Siena Basketball and his knowledge of the game to provide analysis for Siena Basketball games on both radio and television in the years following his graduation.
